The golden BRIC are leading the emerging countries in the new century. It is interesting to take a look at some key statistics of these four nations of future.

Country                      Brazil       Russia        India        China

Population (billion):    0.19         0.14            1.14        1.34

GDP per capita (k$):   6.86          9.12          1.04         2.49

GDP per capita ppp(k$):9.57       14.7          2.75         5.35

Life Expectancy:         72.4          65.5          64.7         73.0

Given the fact that China has the longest life expectancy and largest population, it is no wonder that the silver hair market is booming there. Indeed, it is expected that China will have more than 100 million people older than 65 at the year of 2010 (next year!). Any business with a great product or service idea should be booming in Chinese market.

BTW, by comparing the GDP per capita and life expectancy, it is clear that Chinese people managed to live longer at a lower expense. If you go to any park in China from 6am to 10am, you will be surprised by the number of patront there. Indeed, they will be packed by the seniors who exercise at their preferred sports. Some are traditional, like jogging, walking, and Taichi, some are non-traditional, like group dancing, Chinese drum beating, and back walking, some are just simply wierd, such as shaking hands, beat against trees, or just yelling. With the public health system far from satisfaction, people find their own way to look after themselves. Anyway, no matter what exercise they chose, Chinese people did a great job of living longer with comparable income.
